Lost in her thoughts, Maggie didn’t hear her dad enter the room until he spoke up, his voice gentle but concerned. “Hey there, kiddo. Tough day at school?”
Maggie nodded, not trusting herself to speak without her voice betraying her emotions. Her dad sat down beside her, a comforting presence as he listened to her recount the events of the day. When she finished, he didn’t say anything for a moment, letting the silence stretch between them.
Finally, he spoke, his tone serious but understanding. “Maggie, I know it’s not easy, but you have to remember that fighting doesn’t solve anything. It only makes things worse.”
Maggie sighed, feeling a lump form in her throat. She knew her dad was right, but it was hard to admit it, especially when she still felt the sting of Sarah’s words.
