As the day drew to a close, the children reluctantly said their goodbyes to the animals, their hearts heavy with the knowledge that not all of them would find forever homes. But Paul clung to his newfound friend, knowing in his heart that he couldn’t leave the shelter without her.

That evening, Paul approached his parents with a timid request. “Mom, Dad, can we adopt a kitten from the animal shelter?” he asked, his eyes shining with hope.

His parents exchanged a glance before smiling warmly at him. “Of course, Paul,” his mom replied, her voice filled with affection. “I think it’s a wonderful idea.”
